Enhancing the Record- MFHS

The Twelve Ways of Sharing

There are so many things Military Families for High Standards is involved with right now! And I encourage you to explore them, learn about those that interest you most, and share these with all those you are involved with to better spread our message to military families and community leaders.

Hence, “The Twelve Ways of Sharing.”

First
The Military Student Identifier, a requirement under ESSA, is of vital interest to all of us connected to the military. Remind families to be sure to “Check That Box” on their school information paperwork so that schools, districts and states know military children are in their classrooms.

And then watch for what those same entities do with that information and data to improve offerings for our military-connected student population.

Second
If folks are on a mid-year transition to a new location, be sure they use our “Transition Guide for Military Families” to ease their way to a successful educational move.

Third
Collaborative for Student Success has recently published a very valuable report regarding state school improvement efforts in 17 states. Get used to hearing, referring to, learning, and thinking about how Promise to Practice can improve the educational outcomes of our children.

Fourth
Make certain to take a moment for yourself this month to reflect on the many efforts each of us have made to ensure that these young people have access to quality and equitable education. Perhaps reach out to someone to draw them in with us.

Fifth
Become a member of our Team. We are always looking for military spouses to help share and expand our message.

Sixth
Next time you see a candy cane, know that I am glad you are HOOKED on MFHS and our mission!

Seventh
Invite folks to view their state’s education website to see how their school performs on their state report card and see how your state is approaching school improvement and the Military Student Identifier.

Eight
Remind parents that all schools must develop new plans to turn around their lowest-performing schools and maintain that improvement.

Ninth
Share your interest in your school’s improvement efforts by speaking with school leaders and Board members in your local district and state and telling them about Promise to Practice.

Tenth
Tell others about http://Promisetopractice.org so they can learn about efforts in these 17 states that were evaluated. New PCS orders could be sending them to one of these!

Eleventh
Please tell any military families you that you know thanks, on the behalf of MFHS, for trusting us to shape their message and carry forward their issues, concerns and ideas.

Twelfth
Consider a sparkling HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all you meet — to brighten their day and enrich your heart.
